My Blog

2008-12-29 07:50:33Congratulations, Chad Pennington!

As you may already know, I'm a big fan of Chad Pennington and was very upset with the way that the Jets released him before this season began. Even though I'm still a Jets fan, I'm very happy that Chad took his Dolphins to the playoffs after they had a 1-15 season last year.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - The joke making its way around the Giants Stadium press box in the final minutes of Miami's 24-17 win over the Jets on Sunday night was that Brett Favre's Jets jersey — the league's high seller in 2008 — would be 75 percent off at sporting goods stores in the tri-state area by Monday morning.

The grand irony, of course, is that it was Chad Pennington's Jets jersey on those very clearance racks just six months ago.

Pennington's 2008 campaign is one a Hollywood studio wouldn't touch. Too unrealistic. Too absurd.

Unceremoniously dumped by the Jets at 11:30 the evening Favre was acquired, Pennington found his way as a free agent to Miami with an impossible task at hand: bring a 1-15 team from a year ago back to respectability.

He did all that and more, and on Sunday night, it was Pennington, not Favre, wearing an "AFC East Champions" baseball cap, celebrating with his teammates.

2008-08-24 20:01:51New Surroundings!

It's been a while since I've updated this -- things have really changed since my last note!

I've accepted a new job with a company called NCS Technologies in Northern Virginia. Very cool place! Of course, this means that I'm no longer working with Wasabi Systems. It also means that we've moved out of Hampton!

As I type this, we're sitting in a hotel in Front Royal. We'll be staying here until we close on our new house next week. We're absolutely thrilled to be living here!

If you wanna see pictures, hop on the forum and check 'em out.

2008-02-04 10:36:50Congratulations to Sarah for passing her Nursing Boards!

Sarah found out this morning that she passed her nursing board test so she's officially an RN now!

We’re all very proud of her!

There are evidently 300 questions on the test and if you either score very high or very low, they stop you after the first 75 questions. When they stopped her after her 75th question on Friday, she wasn’t sure what to think but it looks like she did really well!

Congrats!

2008-01-02 18:26:08Happy New Year!

I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a happy new year.

2007 was a great year for my family. Sarah graduated from school, I got a great raise at work, and Sebastian was born.

We're looking forward to a wonderful 2008 and hope to get to spend time with all of you soon.

Now quit messing around and get on the forum and start talking smack!

2007-10-10 00:00:00Moving to New Web Server

"Hello!

Sorry that it's been so long since I've done anything with the site. I've been really busy with the family and work lately.

I just moved my web server from Windows to Linux so that I can learn how to code in PHP. Rewriting my entire site in a different language has been really educational (and at times, a bit frustrating).

If you see any issues with the new version, let me know.

Thanks!

-Jon"

0000-00-00 00:00:00New Forum Online!

"The move to Linux required that I install a brand new forum package. Andrew helped me look at a couple of different packages and we settled on one by simplemachines.org.

You should head over to the forum, login, and check out the new features. It's really nice!"

0000-00-00 00:00:00More features to come!

"First up, gots to get the forum going.

After that, I'll work on the news, gallery, links, and media sections."

0000-00-00 00:00:00Back from Milwaukee!

"Well, I made it back from Milwaukee safe and sound. All in all, it was a great trip.

Wisconsin wasn't nearly as bad as I thought that it would be. The people were super nice and the food was excellent. I had Bison Steak one night. I wonder if Kristy has ever had that?

Next trip will be St. Louis at the end of November."

Quote of the Day

"I would rather take a bath and an elbow in the chest than a shower with no elbow in the chest."
